Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
Our commitment to offering the highest quality chiropractic and physical therapy care resulted in the addition of Spinal Decompression technology for the treatment of back pain due to:
- Disc herniations
- Disc bulges
- Facet Syndrome
In the past, a patient was given muscle relaxants and pain medication to treat disc herniations. Conservative chiropractic care with physical therapy exercises has been proven very helpful yet there have been some cases when surgery seems to be the only other option…until Spinal Decompression.
Non-surgical spinal decompression can effectively treat neck and lower back pain and sciatica resulting from herniated or deteriorated discs. Spinal decompression not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients but also enables the majority of patients to return to more active lifestyles.
Spinal Decompression uses a patented FDA-cleared therapy traction device that uses a computer to traction the spinal disc at a specific angle and tension. This enables the doctor to gently, safely, and precisely put tension on the neck and lower back to create a negative pressure inside the disc. This negative pressure creates a vacuum effect that actually draws the bulging or “slipped” material back into the center of the disc. Each treatment lasts about 20-25 minutes and is generally painless. Most patients actually find it relaxing and often fall asleep during treatment. The negative pressure created by the traction also draws fluid and nutrients into the disc, helping it rehydrate and heal. Rehydrating the disc will help decrease your pain and allow you to function again.
